FOCUS hosts a variety of events and activities to provide opportunities for fellowship, service, and spiritual and intellectual growth. The best way to stay up-to-date with what we have planned is to subscribe to our listserv and “Like” us on Facebook.
During the academic year, we meet every other Friday evening for food, fellowship, worship, and study of Scripture.
There is typically an informal, student-led book discussion that meets periodically throughout the semester. We discussed After Virtue by Alasdair MacIntyre in Fall 2021 and Reading While Black by Esau McCaulley in Spring 2021.
In the past, we have made trips to the local food bank in Durham once a month during the academic year. It’s a great time of service and fellowship! However, our point person for this ministry has recently graduated. If you’d like to lead this ministry, please reach out!
Ice Cream Social
We kick off the new school year with free ice cream! The ice cream social is a great way to meet other graduate students and learn more about events for the upcoming year.
Day at Hyco Lake
Each year, the Triangle Christian Medical Fellowship invites graduate and professional students from Christian organizations at UNC and Duke to join them for a day of fun water sports/activities at the lake home of Drs. Craig & Amy Fowler.
For many years, Dr. Fred and Nancy Brooks have kindly opened up their beach house at Caswell Beach, NC for us to use. It is an amazing place to spend a weekend whether you are looking to relax or do work!
We plan to continue to meet regularly. We are actively monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and following CDC guidelines for all events.
